Making it to the WNBA realm is quite a challenge. With the fast-paced nature of the league, the assessments are always performance-driven. As talents are pouring in, an athlete has to be at the pinnacle of her form to keep her franchise happy. And this is exactly the lesson that Grade Berger has learned the hard way.
Berger has been around in the WNBA for quite some time now. Unfortunately, she has yet to find herself a permanent team. While she did get a chance to prove herself with the Dallas Wings, things soon went awry. The team cut the 26-year-old from the roster just a couple of days after signing her!
Grace Berger’s Sorry WNBA Run Continues
Back on July 16, the Dallas Wings signed a hardship contract with Berger. As injuries ravaged the team, the seven-day contract with Berger felt like a redemption opportunity for the athlete. Sadly enough, things did not pan out in the manner that the 26-year-old guard perceived. Playing against the Seattle Storm, the Wings had quite a pleasant outing.
But despite winning the game 87-63, Berger only got ten minutes of game time. Following the emphatic win, the 26-year-old was informed about being cut from the roster. Surely, this is a frustrating phase of play for Berger. More so because this was not the only instance of a team removing her from their roster. In fact, this was the fourth instance in which a WNBA team has waived Berger.

She played 10 minutes in their blowout win Tuesday in Seattle.
Berger came into the WNBA as the seventh overall pick in 2023. Joining the Indiana Fever, fans expected Berger to have a great run. However, playing alongside Caitlin Clark, she could only muster an average of 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in her rookie season. Owing to her timid run, Fever cut her from the roster. And the Minnesota Lynx did not waste the chance to pick her up…
But alas! She was rereleased just days before the inaugural night. Moving on, the 26-year-old got yet another contract on June 17 from the Los Angeles Sparks. And much to her dismay, she just played a solitary game before the team waived her after three days. Meanwhile, as Berger paints a sorry story this season, the likes of Aari McDonald are making the most of their chances.

Aari McDonald Impresses Stephanie White As Grace Berger Looks For Answers
The world of Grace Berger and Aari McDonald is looking quite in contrast. While both have been picked up as replacements, Berger is struggling to find her footing, while McDonald is making merry. With Caitlin Clark unavailable, the Indiana Fever signed Aari McDonald. Coming in as the replacement for Clark, McDonald had a big responsibility of carrying the Fever on her shoulders. Showing some impressive form, McDonald contributed significantly to the team’s recent 80-70 victory. And such a performance got the attention of coach Stephanie White. The cameras captured her gushing over the youngster’s performance.

“She’s putting in the work. She understands momentum. She understands timing... understands the flow of the game. That was just a big shot, and she shot it with confidence. There was no hesitation, and that’s what I wanted to see,” White said. (via X@IndianaFever)
On the contrary, it is quite evident that Berger has not been up to the mark. In order to revive her season, the former Wings star will have to do some serious work on herself. Thus, with things looking a bit low for Grace Berger, fans would wait to see if she can redeem herself.
