Basketball is a team game, and the Dallas Wings are learning it the hard way. As the first half of the league winds down, the Wings find themselves in a precarious position. With just eight wins and 21 losses, the Wings are stationed at number 11. And all of this has happened despite the emergence of Paige Bueckers.
The 23-year-old rookie has been one of the main talking points of the league this season. With her impressive shooting, the Wings’ star is bringing back the memories of Caitlin Clark from last year. Unfortunately, all of that seems to be going in vain as the Wings are sliding down in the power rankings.
Where Does Paige Bueckers’ Dallas Wings Stand In The Power Rankings?
With the trade deadline coming in, the WNBA has released its power rankings for week 9. And the Wings stand at number 11. Now, this standing can be considered as a slight improvement from last week’s number 12. But still, such a ranking should not make the Wings’ fans happy.
One of the major reasons for the Wings’ descent is undoubtedly the injuries. In fact, they have been bothered so much that the franchise was forced to sign Haley Jones. This was for the sole reason that the team could have a minimum of eight players. And amidst all of this, the only lone warrior standing tall is Bueckers.

The 23-year-old is the frontrunner for the Rookie of the Season this year. While she surely leads the rookie list, Bueckers also features in the top 10 list of the entire league. She has averaged 18.5 points per game, putting her in the 7th position. Other accomplishments include a 9th place with a 5.5 APG, third on the list of steals per game (1.8).
Meanwhile, with the Wings looking lacklustre, a hard fall had rumors of the 23-year-old incurring an injury. As fans and critics were quite skeptical, the Wings’ star cleared the air. And thankfully, she had good news.

Paige Bueckers Downplays Leg Injury
A Caitlin Clark-less Indiana Fever made the most of an off-form Dallas Wings. Winning the game 88-78, the Fever pushed the Wings further into darkness. However, one particular event involving Bueckers had the fans concerned. At one point, the 23-year-old fell down and left the court limping. But during the post-game presser, Bueckers was all smiles.

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just a normal knee to thigh sort of thing. So it hurts in the moment, probably will hurt tomorrow, but just got to work it out,” Bueckers said.
Now then, the Wings are looking to rebuild. And despite slipping down the rankings, they would take heart from how Bueckers is going. And fans, too, will be eagerly waiting to see her blossom further.
