Fans are generally quite passionate about the athletes they support. Often, they tend to let emotions take over rationality. In a recent fiasco involving Dave Portnoy, the passionate fans of the WNBA did take over. And it was not only Portnoy who faced the backlash. Popular WNBA duo StudBudz, too, got dragged into the act.
It all started with Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman agreeing to host a live stream with Portnoy. While the backlash came swirling in, the Barstool Sports founder did not mince words.
Dave Portnoy Clears The Air About Angel Reese Hatred
It is no secret that Dave Portnoy is an avid Caitlin Clark supporter. Recently, Portnoy expressed his interest in doing a live stream with Williams and Hiedeman. Portnoy wanted to clear the air about his hatred of Reese. But as the fans got angry at the ‘StudBudz’ duo, Portnoy could not hide his astonishment. The sports analyst pointed out that he is quite a well-known figure in sports journalism. Thus, it was quite normal for Williams and Hiedeman to agree to stream with him.
Dave Portnoy also acknowledged how he did not like Angel Reese. The sports analyst clarified that different individuals naturally hold varying degrees of affinity toward players. And in his case, the Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark scenario was just part of his passion for the game.
“People are big mad at Studbudz just cause we talked. W fans are freaking nuts. I got one of biggest megaphones in the country. I love them. Love the league. Yeah I don’t like Angel and I love Caitlin. It’s called sports,” Dave Portnoy wrote.
