Near the end of February and the start of March, the USA and Israel opened a war front against Iran. The sudden news shook the world, but it also created concerns over the WNBA players, as the league has a few players in the war zone. Dawn Staley provided the update via social media.
The Gamecocks’ coach always looks after former players or even players from South Carolina. She recently honored Seahawks rookie Nick Emmanwori by wearing his jersey during South Carolina’s victory over Tennessee.
But it’s not only the celebratory occasions when she takes note of her players; the coach even shares updates on the players in need, too. And her recent actions support that claim.

Dawn Staley With Eye On South Carolina Players In Israel War Zone
With the WNBA offseason, many WNBA stars are in either European leagues or other leagues, participating in different competitions. Former Gamecocks’ players are also on the move, and as per Staley, three players were playing in Israel.
South Carolina coach revealed that the school is working to try and help Tiffany Mitchell, Mikiah Herbert Harrigan and Destiny Littleton return home from Israel. In the post she wrote, “’Please pray for our @GamecockWBB @TiffMitch25 @2121Mikiah @dstnylttltn24 who are in a war zone in Israel,’ Staley said on X. ‘We are working a plan to get home. Let us pray for our loved ones to return home safely asap! Thank you in advance.”

Entering her 18th season, the 55-year-old coach set a record as the South Carolina Gamecocks’ winningest coach. She has an .817 win percentage and won three titles with the side. While this itself is a major achievement, the coach also reached 500 career wins with the Gamecocks.
The University of South Carolina defeated the LSU Tigers with a 79-72 scoreline. While this was their 18th straight victory over LSU, the coach also completes her 500-win mark.
Coach Geno Auremma holds the record with 1250+ wins with the UConn Huskies, but the Gamecocks’ coach is now one of the most successful active coaches in the NCAAW.
