The Los Angeles Sparks were close to making a stunning comeback in the season and lost the playoff spot by just one win. Forward Dearica Hamby was honest in keeping the Los Angeles Sparks’ playoff hopes alive during the closing stages of the season.
She did everything to make the dream possible, but the loss against the Mercury marked the end of their season. Many praised Hamby for her fighting efforts, who averaged a career high of 18.4 points with a career-best efficiency.
This was also a direct shot at her former employers, the Las Vegas Aces, who, according to her, questioned her commitment and dedication. The Forward even filed a lawsuit against the Aces over the same.

Dearica Hamby And Las Vegas Aces Mutually Agree To Drop Charges
The former Wake Forest star filed a complaint suggesting that Aces head coach Becky Hammon “questioned Hamby’s commitment and dedication” to the team and accused her of signing the extension knowing she was pregnant. Hamby was pregnant in 2023 and traded to the Sparks in the same season.
The forward filed the complaint in August 2024, and now, according to reports, the two sides have filed a motion to proceed with dismissing the lawsuit on December 11 in a U.S. District Court in Nevada.

The talented star left the Aces following the trade to the Sparks and played with vengeance. Even though she couldn’t win a championship with the LA Side, her individual performance reached new highs.

Firstly, the 2015 rookie played in every game for the Sparks, making a strong statement about her commitment and dedication, which was in question (as per Hamby). Additionally, her production on the floor took a significant leap as she controlled the game more effectively for her team.
She even won a gold medal at the 3X3 AmeriCup and a bronze Medal at the Olympics with Team USA. Recently, she shared a post about completing 11 seasons in the league, and Hamby received support from Aliyah Boston and WNBA peers on social media.
