When the players wore the ‘Pay Us What You Owe Us’ t-shirt in the NBA All-Star game last year, it was clear that the battle would not be easy. Likewise, as players demanded better revenue sharing from the league, both sides debated the CBA deal heavily. It was only at the last moment that the two parties agreed to craft a historic contract.
But in the meantime, it took seventeen full months for the negotiations to come to a conclusion. Amid the back and forth, both sides missed the CBA deadline at least three times. Thus, following the historic deal, personalities like Diana Taurasi were overwhelmed. Now, it looks like the NBA realm is also taking note of how its women’s counterpart has fought tirelessly to secure a stable future. Speaking on the same lines, Devin Booker had a lot to say.

Devin Booker Is Happy With The WNBA Growing Further
The Phoenix Suns star is currently busy taking his team to the NBA playoffs. But amidst all of his busy schedule, Booker has always spared a thought for women’s basketball. Previously, the Suns’ star has, on numerous occasions, extended his support for the Phoenix Mercury. Now that the league has signed the historic CBA deal, the 29-year-old stated that the contract indicates steady growth for the WNBA.
“I think that’s a start. That’s a step forward. It’s only been growing since I’ve been in the league. “More eyes on it, and that’s a test of the talent (that) just keeps getting better and better. It’s the start of something new,” said Booker.

Surely, the NBA star is not wrong. There have been a number of points that the authorities did not agree to initially. But in the final deal, a higher revenue sharing, salary cap, housing, and even a pregnancy clause have been added to the new CBA.

Meanwhile, the new CBA left not only Booker but also Dawn Staley utterly impressed.
Dawn Staley Impressed With How WNBA Players Fought For Their Rights

There were at least three proposals from the WNBA that the players’ union rejected. And as the two parties feuded over the terms for a long time, the players made sure to meet physically. After over 50 hours of negotiations, the athletes finally succeeded in getting what they wanted. Such an attitude mightily impressed Staley as she went on a praising spree.
“I will say the players’ association and all the officers in the players’ association, just bore down and fought for their worth and the worth of current players as well as the future. They understand they have to be on this side of such an historical deal, they understand they have to be on this side of history to move our game forward,” Staley said.

“When you enter into the league, you're gonna make probably 100 times more than someone 30 years ago, 10 years ago, 5 years ago."
