DeWanna Bonner is back to where it all began. Bonner, a WNBA veteran, has been around the circuit for quite some time now. And while she has hopped around within a few franchises, it looks like there’s only one team that she finds solace in. And that is none other than the Phoenix Mercury.
Mercury and Bonner have a long history of bonding. And with things going south with the Indiana Fever, Bonner is back with Phoenix. Well, it is needless to say that the 37-year-old is extremely happy about the same.
DeWanna Bonner Is Accepting Her WNBA Journey
DeWanna Bonner started her WNBA journey with the Phoenix Mercury. And it was 10 long years since she decided that it was time. In search of some new experience, Bonner left her home and ventured out to the Connecticut Sun. Continuing with the Sun for five years, 2025 saw a massive shift in dynamics. Bonner was roped in to play alongside Caitlin Clark by the Indiana Fever. Unfortunately, things did not work out for the WNBA veteran.
Following the split, Bonner came back to Mercury. Once again. And she cannot be happier. Opening up on her experience, Bonner stated that she is happy to accept her journey so far. Speaking about all the decisions she has faced, the 37-year-old refused to change anything she did up until this point.
“I wouldn’t do anything differently. I think my journey is my journey, and I’m going to accept that… It carried me to where I am now in Phoenix, and it happened that way for a reason,” Bonner said via ESPN.

Bonner also clarified that she was more interested in focusing on her future with Mercury. On being asked about the narrative of her not wanting to come off the bench, Bonner found it amusing. She pointed out that anybody who knows her would accuse her of such behaviour. However, with fans calling her a ‘quitter,’ Bonner was not at all shy in answering them back.

DeWanna Bonner Fires Back At ‘Quitter’ Claims
DeWanna Bonner signed a whopping $200,000 for one year with the Indiana Fever. However, after only nine games, her stint with Caitlin Clark’s team came to a screeching halt. She averaged 7.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and a 34.5% shooting, which was significantly lower than her usual baseline. And as she was released, Bonner was called a ‘quitter’ by the fans. Immediately, the 37-year-old fired back.

“A QUITTER!! Nah never been that!! But when the time comes…“Let’s just make sure the apologies are just as loud as the disrespect!! “IN DUE TIME ..DB,” she posted. (Via Khristina Williams on X)
Thus, with things seemingly going back to normal for Bonner, fans cannot wait to see how she fares.
