Paige Bueckers’ offseason continues to be one eventful ride for the 2025 rookie. She showed support for and attended the Texas-based teams’ games in the NFL, college football, and the NBA, and also revisited her alma mater for the ting ceremony and attended their season opener game.
Bueckers described emotional return for the UConn National Championship ring as “really weird.” She had the chance to meet up with another UConn national champion, Diana Taurasi, at her next stop.
On Taurasi’s new show, The Link, Wings’ superstar opened up on different topics from her UConn days to her WNBA season. DT took the opportunity to ask about one moment she saw on the Wings’ rookie draft night.

Paige Bueckers Opens Up On Her Draft Night ‘Near Embarrassing Moment’
Diana Taurasi’s new show, The Link, uncovers many stories about her guests as the legendary WNBA star chats with them, playing a newer version of golf. The show started with one of the biggest names in the league, Paige Bueckers.
On one occasion, Taurasi questioned the reigning NCAA Champion about her Draft night moment, where she was constantly holding up her dress. Paige chose a bold outfit for draft night. As the Rookie described, as soon as the jitters got the best of her, she started sweating. So much that the tape keeping everything in place began to loosen.

When she realized that her blazer needed some covering, she found herself constantly grabbing at her chest. She added that she was doing everything to avoid flashing the audience during the ceremony. Taurasi and even PB laughed about the situation as the rookie was narrating the story.
Even though the player was nervous on the draft night and tried to control the situation on her own, she remained one of the confident and dominant players on the court in her very first season in the WNBA. The Wings will be looking to build on her first season’s success and provide her support to reach new highs in the upcoming seasons.
Paige Bueckers Will Be Center Piece For Dallas Wings’ Future Plans
The Wings’ front office and fan base’s excitement was a clear indication of their expectations for the former UConn star in the league. Though she delivered a ‘Rookie of the Year’ accolade and also earned an All-Star starter honor in her very first season, the team failed to live up to her level and finished last in the league.

But with the upcoming free agency and WNBA draft, where the Wings once again have a chance to land the top pick, it will be an excellent opportunity for a strong comeback. The Wings’ front office has already confirmed that they will make the 2025 rookie their franchise player and will look to add complementary players around her to help elevate her game.
In one of her recent interviews, Buckers also highlighted that she wants to draw on her UConn roots to forge a winning culture with the Dallas Wings. It will be interesting to see how the team improves their performance and which player additions will help them achieve their goals with PB.
