The WNBA was struggling in prior years before it experienced the sudden boom. However, despite things looking rosy, the players’ demands for equal pay have made the conditions quite hostile. And with the WNBA-WNBPA talks recently hitting a roadblock, things are extremely uncertain at the moment.
Now then, the players have long been asking the league to pay them what they owe. Along with it, the likes of Napheesa Collier and co. pointed out that the share in revenue, too, must be going up at this point in time. Unfortunately, the back and forth has resulted in more and more players chiming in with their takes. And Diana Taurasi is the latest addition.

Diana Taurasi Makes Blunt Admission About WNBA Pay
Speaking of WNBA legends, Taurasi is a name that everyone will remember for her flamboyant performance. For almost a couple of decades, Taurasi has been dominating the WNBA. Unfortunately, despite all the success, the WNBA legend did not receive pay like a star. And thus, in an interview with Front Office Sports in August, Taurasi stated that she deserved more pay like the late great Kobe Bryant.

“When I think of the NBA, Kobe got paid to be the best basketball player in the world. Jokic got paid to be the best basketball player in the world. I think we need to change that, shift into women’s basketball. Like, that’s what you are. Let’s get paid for that and hopefully, the next CBA can reflect that,” Taurasi stated.

Surely, such a bold statement goes on to show how much the WNBA players lag behind in terms of payment. Meanwhile, despite supporting the equal pay movement, Taurasi is not in favor of a work stoppage.
Diana Taurasi Drops Clear Statement On WNBA Work Stoppage
At this point, the WNBA has put forward a couple of proposals. Sadly, both times, the players did not approve of the terms. Not only that, the league has already pushed back the October 31 deadline twice. Thus, in every way possible, things are probably heading towards a work stoppage. But as per Taurasi, such a drastic step would do more harm than good.
“I don’t think a work stoppage benefits anyone. If you go across the board, in any league that has had a work stoppage, there’s just so much damage that can be done,” said Taurasi.
Thus, with things looking complicated, fans, as well as WNBA players, are looking forward to seeing what happens next.
