The NBA season has just kicked off, and the FBI is all over the league. However, with fair play and sportsmanship hanging in the balance, the time is illicitly perfect for any fake news to baffle the fans. Interestingly, all of this has been happening in parallel to the WNBA’s latest one-off with CBA negotiations ahead of the deadline.
Recently, the Federal Bureau made a couple of arrests from the NBA over their alleged involvement in gambling and leaking out sensitive internal information just for the sake of betting.
Just a couple of days ago, the Feds arrested the Portland Trail Blazers’ coach, Chauncey Billups, along with Terry Rozier, over betting and illegal gambling allegations. However, the notorious NBA Centel handle on X (formerly Twitter) reported that the FBI has refused to investigate the WNBA. Really?
Why Would The FBI Even Investigate The WNBA?
The question is obvious and fits perfectly given the current narrative. Additionally, the issue is burning, the Feds are working around the clock, and WNBA fans had nothing better to do than to look around the NBA.

Recently, a viral tweet claiming the FBI “refused to investigate the WNBA” in the wake of high-profile NBA gambling arrests sparked outrage and confusion across sports Twitter.
The post, shared by the parody account NBA Centel, alleged federal agents dismissed WNBA leads due to “lack of interest,” tying it to the bust of the Blazers coach and Miami Heat guard for illegal betting schemes.

While the sane ones didn’t let that slide, fans in numbers flooded all over the platform to tear each other apart on the staged tweet. For those still seeking a clear answer, the FBI has not provided any information regarding the women’s basketball league.
And why would they even bother to turn their chair towards the league? The whole season saw one team after another of the teams and players, while the biggest issue that topped the chart was the CBA.
The authorities had no issues whatsoever with what was happening in the league. Period.
Stephen A. Smith Warns WNBA Against FBI Action
The news was headlining left, right, and center. The sports platforms were covering it, the mainstream channels were debating over it, and it was a nationwide news story.
But that does not mean critics are letting the WNBA rest on its laurels. Veteran sports analyst and outspoken commentator Stephen A. Smith rang warning bells for the league.

According to Smith, “Trump is coming for the WNBA,” and the league could very well be the prime target of the current administration’s bold steps against whatever is coming in their way.
