The Dallas Wings’ 10-32 record handed their Rookie of the Year winner, Paige Bueckers, an unwanted record as a winner with the worst record in the WNBA. While it also put her out of the playoffs, her former teammates, DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith, took a funny jibe at her. Both players are like her ‘family’ to her, treating her like a younger sister.
After winning the title, DiJonai Carrington praised girlfriend NaLyssa Smith’s key role in the Las Vegas Aces’ triumph. And now, in a live video, both came together and mocked PB for her team’s failure to make the playoffs.
DiJonai Carrington And NaLyssa Smith Poke Fun At Paige Bueckers
In the live video, the power couple of WNBA – NaLyssa Smith and Carrington came across to chat with the 22-year-old guard. First, Carrington wanted clarification on whether PB is their son or daughter. While that question remained unanswered, the discussion moved to Bueckers’ trip.

The Lynx star mentioned that “She (Bueckers) went to Turks already”, to which the Aces forward reacted that they were not invited. To this, Carrington took a subtle jab, saying that “cause they (Dallas Wings) were out (of the Playoffs).”
Carrington clarified that the Wings’ guard didn’t want to answer and wanted to change the topic, to which Smith reminded her that she (Bueckers) can’t curse on live chat. While all three players share a strong relationship, they always try to pull each other’s legs whenever possible.

Both players were key members of the Wings until the franchise traded them midway through the season. The players, though, remained in touch and continued to have a blast together. While PB’s Wings couldn’t make it to the payoffs, Injured Carrington’s Lynx lost in the semis, and Smith won the championship with the Aces. In ESPN’s recent power rankings, the Dallas Wings hit rock bottom despite Bueckers’ magic in the 2025 season.
Paige Bueckers To Miss Out On AP All-Time
The former UConn player is a generational talent who aims to transform the Dallas Wings’ fortunes in the league. However, the star herself was not included in AP’s 50th Anniversary First Team or even its second-team selections.
Caitin Clark, Diana Taurasi, Breanna Stewart, Cheryl Miller, and Candice Parker made the first team selection, while the second team includes Sue Bird, Dawn Staley, Chamique Holdsclaw, Maya Moore, and Lusia Harris. While four of the top 10 players selected are from UConn, PB’s absence might surprise many.
Interestingly, CC remains the only player without an NCAA title in her resume among the mentioned names. While PB missed the place, she will look to make amends by winning the WNBA championship early.
