Everyone is now excited for the second season of the Unrivaled League following a massive response to the inaugural season. But in the second season, fans would miss a few familiar faces, including DiJonai Carrington. The league confirmed her omission, considering her injury.
The 27-year-old suffered a left foot sprain in the Lynx vs. Valkyries first round of the 2025 WNBA playoffs. It sidelined the forward for the rest of the playoffs, and now she will miss the Unrivaled league season two.
The league is trying to keep up the excitement and has added new superstars from the WNBA to the league. While the teams are still unannounced, a WNBA analyst pairs Paige Bueckers with Breanna Stewart in the ‘predicted’ teams. However, the absence of superstars from the inaugural season may impact its entertainment value.
DiJonai Carrington To Miss Unrivaled Season 2
The WNBA in 2025 had multiple season-ending injuries that overshadowed some of the big series in the postseason. DiJonai Carrington’s injury was one such injury that impacted the Lynx rotation in the big semifinal series against the Mercury team. But now the star forward will miss the Unrivaled league also.

As per the update from the Unrivaled league, the player will not be included in the second season following her leg injury recovery schedule. Front Office Sports’ Annie Constabile reported the news as she shared the update on ‘X’, formerly known as ‘Twitter’.
In the post, she wrote, “Unrivaled announces that guard DiJonai Carrington will miss the upcoming season due to recovery from a foot injury she sustained during the WNBA season. The league will name the three remaining players for the 2026 season later today.”
