As per the report, Carrington hurt her ankle in Game Two’s win over the Valkyries and played only 14 minutes in the game. After undergoing an MRI, the forward was evaluated by the team physician, who confirmed a significant mid-foot sprain.

The former Baylor star was in crutches during the week, hinting at a more prolonged absence. The 27-year-old forward played in both playoff games and 11 regular-season games. But now, according to the official statement, she will miss the remainder of the 2025 season.

DiJonai Carrington’s Absence Will Impact The Lynx’s Depth
The Minnesota Lynx has been one of the top sides during the 2025 season, relying heavily on its depth. During Napheesa Collier’s injury absence, Kayla McBride took care of the offensive duty, while the whole team also stepped up their game to keep the winning momentum going.
The Minnesota Lynx broke the franchise wins record to clinch the No. 1 seed in that period, and when Collier returned, the team took another leap and sailed to the semifinal of the 2025 WNBA season. Without the 2021 rookie, the side will look at Jessica Shepard, Anastasiia Olairi Kosu, and Maria Kliundikova to fill in for the defensive star.
The Mercury team also has a strong forward lineup, and the matchup will be intriguing. The series will start on September 21, with the Lynx hosting the opening game at Target Center.
