The WNBA’s surge in popularity has brought fans closer to the action than ever before. But for many players, that closeness has crossed the line, as they speak out against a string of disturbing fan incidents. The league’s top star, Caitlin Clark, was among many to experience such an incident. Clark had a stalker, who was eventually arrested. On the other hand, Angel Reese also had some hecklers, and now we have DiJonai Carrington’s name added to the list.
The Minnesota Lynx forward might have had a solid start with her new team, but a few fans are still not happy with her performance. The star shared screenshots of hateful and abusive comments on her Instagram story.
DiJonai Carrington Receives Abusive Comments From A Particular Fan
Carrington is one of several people who have received backlash from fans. However, in her case, it’s been way too extreme, and many have poured in their support for Carrington.
Using abusive and hateful comments not only affects players’ mental health but also their performances on the court. Despite spending hours in training and perfecting their skills, these actions from fans would impact players adversely. The Lynx mid-season acquisition, DiJonai Carrington, shared a picture where she collaged some hateful and abusive comments received from a fan.

The star shared screenshots of the comments posted from the account, ‘diego.sal44’. The messages from the sender were very abusive, forcing DiJonai Carrington to block the account. She sarcastically wrote “Fan mails” with heart and love emojis.
On the flipside, the player received love from her new team and the Lynx fanbase. One elderly fan even came out copying the star’s look and hairstyle to her recent game against the New York Liberty. These two types of reactions and affection from fans are natural for sports personalities.

This is not the first time the 27-year-old star faced hate or trolls. In 2024, she complained about the Indiana Fever fanbase after her team lost against Caitlin Clark and co. A meme went viral with a doctored image of George Floyd’s murder where both layers’ faces were used and the former Wings star was shown as the victim.
