Stephanie White mentioned that Caitlin Clark would gain a different perspective on the games as she continued watching from the sidelines while nursing her injuries. The player also agreed with her HC’s views and mentioned that she learnt a lot during that period. This was also evident in her media interactions.
While addressing Napheesa Collier’s fiery speech about the WNBA Commissioner’s lack of accountability, Clark mentioned that she hasn’t heard from Cathy Engelbert in her detailed answer. One WNBA executive coach loved her maturity.
Executive Coach Praises Caitlin Clark’s Maturity
The Indiana Fever guard was one of the big names that Napheesa Collier took in her non-notorious speech. Head Coach Stephanie White criticized the use of Clark in the WNBA CBA negotiations, calling her a “pawn in others’ games”. However, the 23-year-old star had to address the issue, as the media wanted to report on her reaction.

She said, “I’d say the most important part of leadership, whether that’s the WNBA, whether that’s corporate America, I think it comes down to relationships and really caring about the people you surround yourself with… Why would my teammates want to listen to me if I didn’t have a relationship with them? I think it’s the most simple thing, and you have to be very intentional about seeking those out and understanding your teammates.”
The former Iowa star provided a simple yet effective response, advancing her views on how things should have been in the league. Dr. Ruth Gotian, an executive coach and leadership mentor for Olympians and NBA players, praised the player for her answer and reiterated many points in her advice.
“She is right. She made a lot of valid points.” Gotian said. The expert even sided with Clark’s initial statement that leadership “comes down to relationships”.

Sydney Colson Reveals Locker Secrets About ‘Locker-Room Caitlin Clark’
While CC was all serious about the WNBA’s leadership topic, there is another side of her that fans are aware of and love the most. In an interview with the ‘Good Follow’ podcast, veteran guard Sydney Colson gave her thoughts on the 2024 rookies’ fun side.
“It was cool being on a team with her, getting to see her in another light. Players come in with the sort of notoriety that they have, the attention, everything. It’s a lot for a young person to be dealing with on top of the pressure. So it was good to be able to see a lighter side of her. Her desire to be a better leader and to come back because there were times when she thought she was coming back and it didn’t happen … but to see her fun side, that was an important part,” Colson said.
Carrying the pressure of expectations, she keeps her cool on the floor and in front of the mic at the same time, enjoying life around the sport. Clark is really ticking all the boxes for an ideal athlete.
