The WNBA Finals series is going pretty tough for the Phoenix Mercury, and tougher for DeWanna Bonner. The veteran forward found herself in the crosshairs of WNBA fans after a recent blunder.
During Game 2 of the Finals, Bonner botched a long-range shot attempt and drew sharp criticism. The Auburn alum, once an Indiana Fever star, aimed for a Caitlin Clark-style logo three but airballed it. The outrage comes after Bonner made a heartbreaking confession about cyberbullying.
WNBA Fans Rip DeWanna Bonner For Missed Long-Range Shot Attempt
The Mercury are already under pressure after missing out on two games in a row against the Aces. Despite the struggle, coach Nate Tibbetts remained confident that his team to bounce back.

However, during the second quarter of Game 2, Bonner took a deep three from the Clark territory, passing to her by Satou Sabally. The 36% shooter from 2025 couldn’t connect, and the airball became instant fodder.

However, it might be a bad night for Bonner, but not a bad season for sure. There’s still a good chance that she’ll bounce back in Game 3. Stronger than ever.
DeWanna Bonner Eyeing Another Championship Ring
While her one missed shot from the deep caught everybody’s eyes, Bonner’s Finals experience could turn the tide. She’s reached the title series four times, winning with Phoenix in 2009 and 2014, and making runs with the Connecticut Sun, including 2022.
Her veteran presence, paired with Alyssa Thomas, offers Phoenix a shot at revenge against the Aces. A strong series could very well secure her fourth ring.
