Fans Fake Injuries For Sophie Cunningham Hugs After Wild Drive Into Crowd At Annika Pro-Am [VIDEO]

Sophie Cunningham has been one of the most entertaining athletes on the current WNBA roster. Ever since signing with the Indiana Fever, the 29-year-old has gained a lot of traction, so much so that the Fever fans are urging the front office to re-sign Cunningham.

Now, one of the main reasons behind Cunningham’s popularity has been her close proximity to Caitlin Clark. The 29-year-old’s protective instincts on the court earned her the nickname of ‘enforcer.’ 

Building on their sisterhood, Clark and Cunningham have maintained a pretty close relationship even after the season ended. In fact, Cunningham also went with Clark to cheer her at the Annika Pro-Am. And while she enjoyed herself to the fullest, Cunningham encountered some unusual fans.

Clark, who is an avid golfer, played with the golfing icon Nelly Korda. Meanwhile, as they were playing for the 18-hole charity showcase, Cunningham decided to join into the action.

Now, the Fever guard is not as fluent in golf as Clark. Recently, Cunningham was trolled on social media by Clark as she referred to a ‘fore’ as ‘four.’ Thus, when the 29-year-old took the golf stick, there was a buzz in the crowd.

In a hilarious fashion, when Cunningham stepped in and attempted to hit the ball off the tee, things went pretty haywire. The ball went to the right and straight into the crowd. Moments later, Clark came in to tell Cunningham that an elderly man was down on the ground from the shot. 

Now, Cunningham’s shot did not actually injure the man. But he knew that he could get a hug from the Fever star. Soon after, more men faked injuries to get their moment with the Fever star. Meanwhile, Cunningham is well aware of her inexperience with golf. And thus, she feared that Clark would boot her out.

On the court, both Cunningham and Clark complement each other with some breathtaking performances. However, when it comes to golf, the 29-year-old guard turns out to be pretty much ignorant.

At the recently held Annika Pro-Am, organizers invited Cunningham to serve as Clark’s superstar caddie. However, with limited knowledge, the Fever star feared losing her spot on the team.

In an episode of the ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, Cunningham said, “Hopefully they’re not too serious, because I’ll get kicked out of the group.” 

Thus, it is evident that the audience did enjoy both Clark and Cunningham’s presence. Now, they will be eager to find out whether the duo reunites next season.
