The WNBPA showed unity throughout the CB process and even took a serious decision of a ‘strike’ with 98% players ready to sit out for the season. Nneka Ogwumike came forward, denying immediate implementation of the strike, but added that the players want a fair CBA deal.
The league sent a revised proposal on Friday night, but the PA has yet to give a green signal to the same. Amid this, the broadcaster, NBC, dropped a preview of the 2026 WNBA games being the broadcaster. Frustrated fans thrashed the teaser on social media.

The NBC won broadcasting rights for the 2026 WNBA season, signing a historic 11-year deal with the league. The deal added roughly $200 million in annual revenue to the league. Under the agreement with Disney, Amazon Prime, and NBCUniversal, over 125 games are featured annually, with Finals rotating among them.
Based on the principle of the League’s schedule for the season, the broadcaster prepared a teaser to highlight its broadcasting schedule. The teaser included multiple star players like Caitlin Clark, Breanna Stewart, Angel Reese, A’ja Wilson, and many more, and had “If You Know, You Know – This is ‘W’” line.

The fans’ angle sides with what the WNBA players have to say. When the league dropped its schedule, A’ja Wilson and Azura Stevens slammed the WNBA as the CBA tension reached the boiling point. And yet, the situation is no better.
WNBA Still Far From Players’ Demands
In the proposal sent by the WNBA, the league agreed to many demands from the WNBPA. It reinstated the housing policy and also added some more facilities for teams with injured players or pregnant players. It even gave the right to deny the trade to the pregnant players.
But two key issues still remain a deal breaker as the league improved the salary marginally and also kept the earlier revenue sharing model proposed in the December offer.
As both agendas are most important for the WNBPA, there could be another rejection from them and or even serious action to put pressure back on the league.
