The WNBA fanbase was eagerly awaiting a positive report from the meeting on February 2. But in the end, their condition was similar to that of the GTA 6 fans – the wait continues for both. Sophie Cunningham even raised questions over the possibility of the 2026 WNBA season, with the discussions moving at a glacial speed.
Amid this chaos, a confidential document leaked, highlighting a few discussion points in the WNBA proposal, including commercial projections, and a few more perks to offer players in the CBA. Fans reacted to a particular perk that was supposed to be the norm for players in the league.

Fans React To Free WNBA League Pass Idea In CBA Discussions
The WNBPA made its non-negotiable demands clear earlier in January. With nearly a month in hand to work on the same, the league couldn’t find a breakthrough in CBA. Instead, the document just highlights the rise, without any particulars about the amount or percentage of the rise.
Moreover, there are many ambiguities in other perks in the documents too. One perk that is clear, though, was granting the player a free WNBA league pass, which was 37th point in the sheet.

The players playing in the league should automatically get free league passes as a basic amenity for playing in the WNBA. Fans reacted to such a proposal.

Though the points mentioned cover most of the players’ demands and hopefully the league will also reach the commercial value that players would also agree to see the ‘product’ on the floor.
WNBA Losing Precious Time
The league and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) are operating in a “status quo” period, meaning previous working conditions remain in effect, but major offseason milestones are stalled.
While the WNBA free agency signing and expansion draft dates are not out yet, the WNBA Draft will be on April 13, training camps on April 19, and the season opener will be on May 8. Experts note it can take up to two months to resume free agency once a deal is in place, putting the start of the season at risk. Considering these due processes, Kelsey Plum also fired shits at the league for the delay.
