Project B might start in December 2026, but the hype around the new league is already building up. The league announced nine player signings since the first week of November, and Sophie Cunningham became their latest addition to the ‘cash-rich’ league.
Fans reacted to Cunningham joining Project B news, showing support for the player and also raising concerns over the WNBA’s future. The Fever star, meanwhile, was in a joyous mood and showed her fun side, reposting the news on her social media account.

Fans React To Sophie Cunningham’s Post
The former Missouri star was clear about her objectives and future plans as she is in her prime basketball age. On her ‘Show Me Something’ podcast, Cuningham gave her honest opinion about the idea of joining Project B. So, when the news hit the internet, not many netizens were surprised by the advancement.
But being the ‘happy-go-lucky’ girl she is, the star used smart play of words while resharing an update with the fans. She wrote, “unlimited Arby’s for life amirite?”

The star is associated with Arby’s and even promoted the same with a famous ‘Hot Girls Eat Arby’s’ t-shirt. While some modern names use “Amirate” to evoke nobility and royalty, likely derived from “Amira,” the feminine form of “Amir,” meaning “princess” or “female ruler”.

Though Sophie Cunningham’s way of announcing her association with Project B may be different and a humorous way to talk about the salary she will be earning, the player will receive a massive raise from her current WNBA earnings.
Sophie Cunningham’s Earnings From Project B
In 2025, the former Phoenix Mercury star signed with the Indiana Fever on a $100,000 contract, which was just above the league’s mean and her highest salary in the league. However, the 29-year-old will now earn above $2 million, according to sources and the salary announcements of the other eight players.

More importantly, she will also have equity shares in the league, giving her a significant boost in her earnings. Her earnings from Project B will be roughly eight times the WNBA’s current supermax salary of $249,244.
Moreover, the star spoke about targeting a massive contract for the long term in the league, and now that she has one, Fever fans will be hoping to see her rejoin the side on a ‘comfortable’ salary, considering the available cap space.
