The WNBA rookies are making waves in the league. Players like Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, and Angel Reese are leading the charge, while other young players like Dominique Malonga, Sonia Citron, and Kiki Iriafen are also making their own mark. The league’s future looks brighter than ever.
CC set multiple records in her rookie season that later became the standard for the incoming players. Citron broke Clark’s double-digit scoring rookie record, which highlighted her consistency in the league. While the league tried to keep its social media game up, it posted six different photos of players with an interactive question, but sadly, they messed up with one picture, and keen-eyed fans quickly pointed out the same.
Fans Thrash WNBA Social Media Team After Caitlin Clark-Sonia Citron Blunder
In the offseason, the WNBA managed to grab fans’ attention, but not in the way they had hoped. In one of the social media posts, they tagged ‘Caitlin Clark’ on Sonia Citron’s photo. Fans were angry about the mistake and vented their frustration at the league administration.

Even though the WNBA later corrected the mistake, the Citron fan account already took a screenshot, which later went viral.

While the players play at similar positions, lookalikes, and wear the number 22 jersey, the league’s jumbling between them is indeed laughable. Citron also spoke about the ‘identity issue’ in her interview.
Sonia Citron Spoke On Being ‘Wrongly’ Identified as Caitlin Clark
This is not the first time the Mystics guard has faced an ‘identity crisis’, as sometimes fans even call her by the 2024 Rookie’s name. Hilariously, during the 2025 All-Star game, CC drafted the Mystics’ rookie, and it became an internal joke as both players not only look similar but also wear the number 22 jersey.
In one interview, Citron reflected on her college experience when a fan misidentified her as the Iowa superstar. She said, “I would say something weird happened when I got recognized, because it wasn’t me. I was at a restaurant with my two best friends from Notre Dame, in South Bend, and this guy came up to me, and was super excited, and was like ‘Oh my goodness, are you Caitlin Clark?’”
