The WNBA is expanding its footprint across every possible medium, and social media is also a major part of that expansion. According to the data, the Indiana Fever topped the league in social media valuation in 2025, nearly seven times their closest opponent, the Wings.
While the franchise experienced massive support and engagement across various platforms, it has recently come under scrutiny for its use of AI. Keen-eyed fans are catching the AI-generated posts now and recently slammed the franchise for ‘unnecessary use of AI’.

Fans React To Indiana Fever’s AI Usage In Social Media
The Fever made the headline after their own player, Caitlin Clark, pointed out a mistake in their post, hinting that it was an AI-generated image. The franchise quickly deleted the post, but it impacted its image on social media.
Now, the franchise came up with a post, showing its strength in the season and huge fan following with a ‘text’ post. The post reads, “It’s different now. You see it in the way we play. You feel it in how we rise. And our fans? They’re not a backdrop – they’re a force. This is Fever Basketball.”

Fans, though, see this as the AI-generated text too, and slammed the use of artificial intelligence to express the feelings.

While the Fever franchise will look to improve its social media approach this season, an analyst has now put them on alert with concerning stats that impacted their performance last season.
Analyst Points At More Trouble For Caitlin Clark and Indiana Fever On The Floor
The 2026 season might have a new roster and fresh game plans, but the Fever team brought in most of its 2025 roster to challenge for the championship. Although the team ranks among the top five in the 2026 season, analysts pointed out concerning figures from the last season that the franchise has to improve on.
Kareem Copeland wrote in ESPN, “The Fever ranked No. 8 in points allowed per game (81.5) last season and No. 9 in opponent’s field goal percentage (44.9). As dynamic as that backcourt is offensively, Clark and Mitchell are not considered top-notch defenders.”
A WNBA-Centric account on social media also recently pointed out Caitlin Clark’s defensive lapses, which received widespread support from fans. Although the franchise still made it to the semifinals in the 2025 season and made the required personnel and gameplay adjustments for the 2026 season, it’s interesting to see how much of those efforts helped them win the title.
