Out of all the names that will be in discussion for the 2026 WNBA Draft, Flau’Jae Johnson will be right up there at the top. Having bid an emotional farewell to the LSU Tigers, the NCAA phenom is now ready to take over the WNBA realm. And even as the draft is some time away, the hype around the youngster is shooting through the roof.
For example, mock drafts already suggest that the Toronto Tempo might land Johnson. As the expansion team is trying to build a young core, Johnson would be the perfect fit. Interestingly, to make her season even better, the LSU guard received a major honor from the Baton Rouge mayor.

Flau’Jae Johnson Now Has The Key To The City
The 2025-26 season was a memorable one for Johnson and the LSU Tigers. Finishing the regular season with a 29-6 record, the Tigers were seeded second as they headed into the NCAA tournament. While they were the ultimate favorites to win the championship, things did not turn out as expected. Playing against the third-seeded Duke Blue Devils, Johnson and her team lost in the Sweet 16 via a buzzer-beater.
But the somber feeling did not stay for long with Johnson. Just days after, the Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards decided to surprise the promising young basketball star. He presented him with a key to the city.
According to reports from LouisianaSports.Net, “This morning in Baton Rouge, Mayor-President Sid Edwards presented Flau’jae Johnson with a Key to the City of Baton Rouge and proclaimed that April 4th (4/4) will be Flau’jae ‘Big 4’ Johnson Day in the city going forward.”

Which Team Will Flau’Jae Johnson Prefer Playing For In The WNBA?

Following her incredible performance this year, Johnson had a feeling of urgency as this was her last college year. But despite her being unable to complete her ultimate dream, the star player got an emotional standing ovation from the fans. Now, shifting her focus to the WNBA, the 22-year-old star has made her preference clear on which team she wants to play for.
“Honestly, any team that takes a chance on me for real but I am from Georgia, so the Dream would be cool. The Toronto Tempo. They are a new franchise. I feel like that would be cool. Anybody who really want me,” said Johnson.
Thus, with a lot going on, we will now see what happens next.
