The WNBA free agency nearly shaped the franchises’ rosters, keeping particular slots open for the possible draft picks. Analyst Chiney Ogwumike tried to get information on the first overall pick from the Dallas Wings’ GM and her former coach, Curt Miller, but the players are also in the unknown for their future, and Flau’Jae Johnson opened up about it in a recent interview.
The LSU star is one of the top prospects in the upcoming WNBA draft, providing playmaking, scoring, and perimeter defense to the roster. When asked about her thoughts about the draft night, she gave an honest answer, showing the jitters of a newcomer in the league.

Flau’Jae Johnson With Clear Idea About Her Draft
At the start of the 2025-26 NCA Season, the senior guard set a goal for herself to be the top pick in the WNBA draft. Though the program failed to make it to the final four, Johnson received praise for her gameplay and leadership.
Two nights before the actual draft, the player had a different answer, as she said, “My mindset right now is really just like I can’t control any of that. So, like I’m not even thinking about that. I’m just like honestly, I’m like whoever picked me, I’m grateful, you know, to even have an opportunity to play in the WNBA. Like that sounds crazy. And then whoever doesn’t pick me, like you know we I get to see them all the time, you know, I get to play them.”
Midway into the season, the player expressed a desire to play for the Toronto Tempo or Atlanta Dream team, looking to maximize her potential as a pro player. But her recent answer would rather be perfect, as players don’t have much control over the draft picks.
