The Indiana Fever fans are eagerly waiting for one particular update at the moment. And that is nothing but a date when Caitlin Clark will resume with her on-court action. Ever since the start of her campaign, things have been pretty rocky. The 23-year-old has now sat out of 20 games, which has put the Fever under significant stress. And with the Fever star facing some tough challenges, a former basketball coach chimed in with his take.
Things have been looking a bit complicated for Indiana. While at one point, they looked sure for a playoff spot, a series of losses have dented their hopes significantly. This is exactly why Clark needs to come in.
Dick Vitale Concerned About Caitlin Clark’s Return Timeline
Dick Vitale is a well-known basketball personality. For 41 years, Vitale has served as ESPN’s premier college basketball broadcaster. Over the years, the legendary broadcaster has expressed his opinions regarding everything basketball. And now, with the WNBA booming, he has posed quite a legitimate question.
Vitale is known for his affinity for the Fever star. As the athlete has reportedly begun her endurance training, the 86-year-old gets all the more excited. In a recent update on X, formerly known as Twitter, Vitale looks anxious about whether the 2024 Rookie of the Year will be cleared to play the final nine games.
“What is the latest update on @CaitlinClark22 – @IndianaFever – Is there any chance she will be recovered from her groin injury & play in the last 9 games ?” wrote Vitale.

Surely, the question is legit. Indiana has recently notched up a phenomenal win against the Connecticut Sun. With Kelsey Mitchell in blazing form, the addition of Clark will only bolster their chances further. Even the likes of Candace Parker have touted the duo of Clark and Mitchell to be scary. With that being said, there is news about when the former Iowa star might make her return. And according to an ESPN sportscaster, it is sooner than expected.

Ryan Ruocco Predicts A Late August Return For Caitlin Clark
While covering a Dallas Wings game, ESPN’s Ryan Ruocco dropped a bombshell. He predicted that the 23-year-old might finally come back to the hardwood on August 26. Now, as per the official updates, it was assumed that the 2024 Rookie of the Year will be recovering somewhere in late August. Thus, going by the timeline, Ruocco’s prediction does match.

“Now, that stretch where [the Fever] have the week off [from August 17-22] is where Stephanie White reiterated to us today, she’s hoping Caitlin Clark returns to practice. Stephanie talked yesterday about how Caitlin has been running more and doing more on-court work. She is hoping that Caitlin returns to practice next week, and she will need multiple days in practice before she gets into a game. But you see the way the schedule stacks up after that week, and wonder, could one of those games against Minnesota, or maybe the 26th at home against Seattle, be a potential return game,” said Ruocco.
While there is still no official confirmation about the same, things are surely looking upbeat. Now, it remains to be seen whether or not the return of Caitlin Clark will happen in August.
