Drama and Angel Reese go hand in hand. Her popularity attracted both hate and love to some extent. Recently, the Chi-Town Barbie received the honor of being on the cover of the popular game NBA 2K26 (WNBA version). It not only highlighted her popularity but also signifies her impact in the league. Sadly, some haters tried to tarnish this achievement with a meme replacing the forward’s image with an image of a Monkey.
The LSU star received support from all over the world, and one surprising name on the list of celebrity supporters was Baltimore Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III. Considering their history, AR5 will be happy with the 35-year-old NFL star’s gesture.
Robert Griffin III Condemns Meme Targeting Angel Reese
There is a bitter history between the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and the Sky forward. The star on a show publicly mentioned that the 2024 rebounds leader hates Caitlin Clark. He gave away some examples supporting his claims. Many fans consider that there is a feud between the two competitive stars, though they both have denied the idea.
But after that, Griffin mentioned that he received death threats and even a few sexual violence calls. Though angry with this part, the star made his stance clear on the recent meme released.
“Angel Reese or any Black man or woman should never be called or depicted as a Monkey. Ever. Stop it. If you hate Angel Reese because she is Black, you are the problem. If you hate Angel Reese because you are a Caitlin Clark fan, don’t turn it racial. There should be no space for racism in this world,” Griffin wrote on his official X(formerly Twitter) account.
While this is a great gesture by the former Baylor player, there has been no response from Reese’s camp. She has been targeted many times before, right from her college days. This time, though, many showed her support for the ‘meme’.
