The female basketball realm has witnessed several great coaches who have transformed athletes into champions. One’s mind immediately goes back to how the likes of Geno Auriemma have been working tirelessly to guide the budding buds. Only recently, Auriemma crowned Sue Bird as the greatest point guard.
However, as it turns out, not all coaches want to continue the grind for a long time. And that is exactly what Bill Laimbeer announced recently. While Laimbeer was one of the most legendary coaches in the WNBA, the constant stress got to him eventually. Thus, re-evaluating his options, Laimbeer chose a life of retirement in his latest update.

Bill Laimbeer does not Want To Come Back To The WNBA
Laimbeer had coached in 17 seasons for the WNBA. Back in 2021, the legendary coach had one of the best seasons as he led the Las Vegas Aces to a whopping 24 wins.
Unfortunately, as Laimbeer was known for his intensity and passion, the years of hard work seemingly broke his body. And now, he has made it clear that he has no intention of coming out of retirement anytime soon, even with a lucrative job offer.
“I’m fully retired and I’m done with basketball. Nothing could bring me back — not broadcasting, not coaching, not anything. I’m very happy with what I’m doing now, and that’s pretty much doing nothing,” said Laimbeer.

Surely, the WNBA realm will be feeling the void created by such a great coach. On the contrary, it is important to respect Laimbeer’s choice as he has given the sport so much to cherish in his prime years. Meanwhile, as Laimbeer chooses a life of retirement, in stark contrast, Auriemma is still busy trying to perfect the UConn.
Geno Auriemma Blasts UConn For Lazy Play As WNBA Season Comes Near
UConn has been a top priority team for roping in some classic talents to the WNBA. Take Paige Bueckers, for example. Playing in her maiden season, Bueckers won the Rookie of the Year award and also broke several records to establish herself as an elite player.

Thus, looking at her success, Auriemma is pushing hard for some more of his students to make it big in the WNBA. And that’s why he is aiming for perfection. Despite the Huskies’ blowout victory over Providence, Auriemma called out his team.
“So we just vacillated between how dumb we are and how lazy we were in passing the ball, and so that means 21 times we crossed half court and didn’t get a shot at the basket,” said Auriemma.
Thus, with things looking sorted for both the coaches, fans are now eager to find out what exactly will follow next.
