There are multiple aspects of the game that impact the results and the fan experience: coaches, players, player skills, and team dynamics.
One more aspect that binds all these together would be a training facility where the players spend more time than on the actual game court. The Los Angeles Sparks recently released the news of building a new facility for its players, which highlighted their commitment to improving the squad.
Part-owner Magic Johnson was thrilled as the Sparks unveiled an incredible $150 million practice facility. But how will that facility help the franchise to keep up with the elites of the league?
Los Angeles Sparks To Use New Facility To Great Advantage
The LA side had been one of the top franchises in the league since its inception. Considering the history and impact of the city on the world of basketball, every eye was on the three-time champions for the 2025 season, even though they came through tough challenges; the results were not as expected.

To fasten the ‘behind-the-door processes’ like rehab, practices, mental health of the players, and also team building, the Sparks’ new facility will play the biggest role. Their initiative marks the largest investment in a single franchise in women’s sports history, with a price tag of $150 million.

Eric Holoman, Managing Partner and Governor of the Los Angeles Sparks, said in a statement, “From cutting-edge training and recovery spaces to family and community areas, every corner of this facility was designed with them at the center. It reflects our commitment to our team, our fans, and the city of Los Angeles, and sets a new standard for what a professional sports organization can provide for its athletes.”
This facility, complete with two WNBA-regulation basketball courts, a variety of recovery and rehabilitation facilities, wellness rooms, nap rooms, and hypnotherapy. The technically and medically improved facility will certainly impact the team’s performance in every aspect of the game and help them improve their performance in the upcoming seasons.
The forward, Dearica Hamby, stays positive despite the team’s playoff setback. The side will also look to attain its goal, and now with the facilities at its disposal, it can focus on other key decisions for the upcoming seasons.
Los Angeles Sparks Had Key Decisions To Make This Free Agency
The veterans of the team, Azura Stevens, Dearica Hamby, and Kelsey Plum, were crucial members of the team’s quest for playoff contention. They are all currently unrestricted free agents, and the team will look to bring all its stars back into the lineup. At the moment, the Sparks have only four rookies under contract and will be awaiting a CBA confirmation to make their next move.

As of now, Azura Stevens and Dearica Hamby are on multiple teams’ radar. Plum is also one of the top playmakers, who could fit in any side in the ‘W’. She expressed a desire to build ‘her team’ when she left the Aces. That project is still unfinished, along with the Sparks’ vision to win a title.
It’ll be interesting to see how the roster shapes up for the upcoming season, but the front office is providing the much-needed support to the team, and their new training center is an example of the same.
