The Unrivaled was a huge success in its debut year. Now that we’ve received an overwhelming response, the 3-on-3 league is returning for Season 2, bigger and better.
In a recent announcement, Unrivaled dropped its roster selection rules. And owing to some interesting reshuffles, it appears that one particular player has benefited significantly. And that is none other than Aliyah Edwards.
The WNBA rookie had a great outing in Unrivaled’s previous season. Unfortunately, her showing was not satisfactory for the Mystics, which led to her being traded to the Connecticut Sun. But now, with things seemingly falling in place, it looks like Edwards is bracing for her big launch.
Is Aliyah Edwards Preparing For Breakout WNBA Year With The Unrivaled?
As per the rules this year, to give the two expansion teams fair playing grounds, some fine-tunings were made. Teams that reached the playoffs last year could retain only two players. And for the non-playoff teams, only one was eligible.

As a result, the Mist retained Breanna Stewart while letting go of Edwards. Thankfully for the rookie star, the Lunar Owls drafted her, giving her the chance to play alongside a highly experienced squad.
For the uninitiated, Edwards will be sharing her locker room with the likes of Napheesa Collier, Skylar Diggins, Marina Mabrey, Rachel Banham, and Rebecca Allen. Surely, with such a rich lineup, Edwards will have the opportunity to learn a lot from these veterans.

And if she can really put into practice the values and tricks that she learns from her Unrivaled teammates, the Sun will surely look like a transformed side next year. Meanwhile, as Edwards is having fun stealing the show in the NBA season opener, the rookie star did have her moments the previous year on Unrivaled.
Aliayah Edwards Shone In Unrivaled’s One-On-One Tournament
Edwards was one of the few rookies who impressed last year on Unrivaled. Averaging nine minutes per game, the athlete dropped numbers of 7.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game.

And that was not all. Her one-on-one battle with Breanna Stewart has the crowd go berserk. The Sun rookie dominated Edwards 12-0 in the first round. She also went on to defeat Arike Ogunbowale and Alisha Gray before falling to Collier.
Thus, with Edwards showing clear sparks of promise, fans now wait to see how she performs next season.
