The Indiana Fever had some significant injury concerns throughout the season. With the likes of Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Aari McDonald sitting out, they needed an able player to handle the situation. Initially, the Fever front office signed Aerial Powers to a seven-day hardship contract. But looking at her impressive form, Fever signed Powers to a rest-of-season contract before the playoffs.
And now, as the offseason is in its progress, the 31-year-old has found a new platform to showcase her talent. After ruling the WNBA, Powers will now travel to Turkey.
Aerial Powers Ready To Mesmerize In Turkey
It is a common practice for WNBA players to go abroad to play in the offseason. Likewise, Powers, too, has recently shared an update about the brand new team that she will be a part of. As per the reports, the 31-year-old will now be suiting up for Çanakkale Belediyespor this year. And she is not alone. Powers will be reuniting with her Fever teammate, Shey Peddy, in the Turkish Super League.

Taking to her Instagram account, Powers shared a video of herself in her new team’s jersey. She captioned the post, “New threads. Same mission 🥰.”
Now then, this is not the first time Powers will be playing in the Turkish Super League. Previously, she was a part of Fenerbahce S.K. back in the 2017-18 season. In fact, at the time when Powers was called up by Fever, she was playing her professional basketball in Turkey.

Aerial Powers Shared Her Excitement Filling In For Sophie Cunningham
Sophie Cunningham’s season-ending injury prompted the Fever front office to search for a quality alternative. And as they signed Powers, the team immediately realized her worth. As a result, after signing her first seven-day contract on August 23, Powers signed her second hardship contract on August 30. Reflecting on the opportunity that came suddenly to her, Powers stated that she was pretty much excited to be a part of the Indiana outfit.

“It was actually crazy. I was in Turkey, actually, playing basketball. I got friends out there, and I was just working out. But I was like, ‘Hell yeah, when do you need me?’ And they let me know that it would be in the next few days,” Powers said in an interview.
Well, as of now, the 31-year-old will be trying to impress the fans in Turkey. However, with Powers becoming a free agent, it will be interesting to see if she re-signs with the Fever or not.
