Caitlin Clark, out; Sophie Cunningham, out, and Sydney Colson, out. Three of the initial guards from the Indiana Fever’s 2025 roster left the squad midway through the season due to injuries. While midseason additions also suffered season-ending injuries, leaving the team to rely more on the remaining roster. Kelsey Mitchell stood out in this injury-deprived season for the Fever.
Being the most consistent performer on the floor, Mitchell even rose to the MVP power rankings. Her franchise also vouches for the illustrious accolade.
Indiana Fever Endorses Kelsey Mitchell As Regular Season MVP
As the regular season is closing in on its conclusion, the discussions of individual awards are heating up. While A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and Alyssa Thomas are frontrunners for the MVP Award, the Indiana Fever is pushing for their guard, Mitchell, for the accolade.

Injury news dominated the Indiana Fever’s 2025 season, where the team had very little to celebrate. The Commissioner’s Cup win was a bright spot in the team’s run through injuries, but then they lost four players to injuries, leaving the side helpless in the crunch phase of the season.
In the recent 20 games, the three-time All-Star averaged 22 points with high efficiency. She also averaged nearly two rebounds, one steal, and five assists per game, putting the Indiana team on her back on a nightly basis. With her 20-point performance against the Chicago Sky, Mitchell joined an elite scorers’ list in the league. The star is having her career-best season, worthy of the All WNBA selection, too.

Very recently, the 2018 rookie won the player of the week award. Though Mitchell credited her teammate for the accolade, their reaction said everything about how the team sees her. With the Fever’s best performing player, there is no doubt about the former Ohio State players’ credentials for the MVP race, but can she beat the competition?
Kelsey Mitchell Looks Strong Candidate For MVP Award
While the 29-year-old guard had a spectacular season, A’ja Wilson, Alyssa Thomas, and Napheesa Collier are also strong candidates. Collier and Wilson have massive stat lines, while Thomas has an impact on the games, just like the Fever guard.
The Lynx star averages 23.5 points per game, and the defending MVP averages 23.4 points per game. Both players have been effective on the defensive end, also. Mitchell just falls short of these numbers, but considering the team she is playing for and against, she delivered more impactful performances on the floor.
The only player who could challenge all three candidates in every department is the Mercury forward. Thomas’ triple-double records hand her a slight edge in the race in terms of the impact, and could be considered over the Fever guard with better team standing and overall gameplay.
