There is no end to Stephanie White’s troubles. She rejoined the Indiana Fever and is looking to lead the team to a championship in 2025. However, multiple players’ injuries put her in a difficult position. While she managed to withstand Caitlin Clark’s long-standing injury, she now has a big question.
Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald got injured during a recent game against the Phoenix Mercury. While CC’s return is uncertain, Colson and McDonald are out for a season with an ACL and a broken leg. This forces the team to explore other opportunities to fill their vacant spots.
Former Draft Pick Could Solve Injury Issue For Caitlin Clark And Company
As soon as the news of the devastating injuries broke, everyone’s eyes went straight to the front office. The franchise had earlier managed to acquire Aari McDonald through the midseason. Several Indiana Fever stars praised McDonald’s performance in the absence of Caitlin Clark. However, they are left with only a few options right now.
Indiana reporters analyzing the situation came up with a probable name to fit Stephanie White’s lineup perfectly. Brian Haenchen suggested 2025 rookie Bree Hall as a possible option for the team.

“The 6-1 South Carolina product has familiarity with Indiana after being selected 20th overall by the Fever in this year’s draft. Hall was waived by the Fever on May 5, then signed with Golden State in June,” Haenchen wrote via Indy Star.
Another Indiana Fever reporter, Chloe Peterson, also agreed to the idea. She mentioned that the youngster could be an interesting addition to the team, having gone through the initial training phase.

Could Bree Hall Be A Useful Back-Up For Caitlin Clark?
Going back to rookie is a risk for the surging Indiana Fever. Hall played in two games and clocked just eight minutes. With three points and two rebounds in those games, she is still an untested talent.

The Fever is currently in fifth place, and losing a few more games could put them out of playoff contention. The team could also look at a few options to add to its ranks. With just 13 games remaining in the regular season, they need Clark to get back on the court soon.
Adding a veteran point guard will allow the team to rely on her experience and flexibility in the role. Players like Odyssey Sims and Grace Berger are viable options. But they are not proper point guards and would be open to scoring more than making plays. It’s safe to say that Sydney Colson and Aari McDonald’s absence will cost the team.
Young players like Deja Kelly and Serena Sundell are also other options. They can run the floor and take up a bench role behind Caitlin Clark. Even the 48-year-old coach could use Sophie Cunningham as the primary ball handler in the absence of their 2024 Rookie of the Year winner. But this clearly is a testing time for the franchise.
