The WNBPA proposed a six-week extension that will enable the league to develop new proposals incorporating the players’ demands. The league also acted quickly, sending the new proposal within two days of the extended period.
WNBA players were adamant about their demands, quickly rejecting the earlier offers from the league authorities, while they are yet to respond to the current offer, an insider broke down the offer for better understanding.

Insider Simplifies WNBA’s Latest CBA Proposal
The league presented a record-breaking offer to the players, which was rejected by the association. ESPN insider exposes real reason players are furious with WNBA’s CBA proposal. While the league now has ample time to work on those, the new offer seemingly covers most of the players’ demands.
Khristina Williams broke down the new offer as players could earn in the seven figures from the 2026 season. Under the WNBA’s latest Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) proposal, top players could earn over $1 million in guaranteed base salary, with total compensation potentially exceeding $1.2 million annually through additional revenue sharing.
A source familiar with the WNBA CBA negotiations told @ICYMIwithKW:

The league proposed several offers that significantly raise player pay and introduce a new compensation structure designed to increase salaries as league and team revenues grow.

The revenue sharing had been a key demand by the players’ association, while the league also took care of the salary cap valuation under the same regime. The overall team salary cap will increase from approximately $1.5 million in 2025 to $5 million in 2026. This allows teams greater financial flexibility to offer these higher-paying, seven-figure contracts to more than one player per team.

While the improved commercials certainly help the players to buy in, one question that could impact the decision is proposals from the rival leagues.
Could WNBA Match Upcoming Rivals With New Offers?
Nneka Ogwumike, Alyssa Thomas, and Sophie Cunningham were some big-name players who joined Project B earlier in November. The league’s inability to provide a substantial amount in salary and its revenue-sharing models were lucrative for the player.

Though the WNBA addresses both issues in its recent proposal, the amount is still well short of other leagues’ offerings. As per the report, Project B is offering $ 2 million, while the Unrivaled is offering in a similar range, in addition to the equity shares.
It is important to note that the WNBA consists of 180+ players to look after, while the Unrivalled has 48 players on the roster, and Project B has 66 players planned to start in 2026. Yet the WNBA’s positive step forward is a welcome sign that players could consider accepting.
