The Chicago Sky stunned the table-toppers, the Minnesota Lynx, on July 11 with a six-point win. Players, including Angel Reese, were pumped up with the win and made a strong claim for their ‘return in the league’. The Lynx returned the favor with a dominant 91-78 victory over the Windy City side at the same venue.
While the franchise was hopeful for the playoffs this season, this loss gave them some reality checks. Moreover, the reports have confirmed that the former LSU star will not be playing against the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday.
Recent Angel Reese Injury Casts Questions Over Her Participation
Chi-Town Barbie is dealing with a leg injury, as per the official statement from the Chicago Sky. The star had a great run in recent games, racking up eight double-double performances in that period. In 2024, Angel Reese made history by becoming only the fourth Chicago Sky Rookie to make it into the All-Star selection. Though she wanted to represent Team USA in the Summer Olympic Games, the Sky forward played an important role in winning the game for her Team WNBA in an epic showdown.
Now in her second year, she is the only Sky player selected in an All-Star game. She was part of the Team Colliers following the tradition draft method for the match.
While the franchise has not provided any details on the 23-year-old star’s injury, they confirmed that Ariel Atkins will also miss the Wednesday night game against the Dream. The Sky has already lost two fixtures this season against Atlanta. Without Atkins and their leading rebounder, it will be a heavy ask for them to put up a fight against the fifth-placed side.

Angel Reese Joins Questionable Players List For 2025 All-Star Game
The 2023 WNBA champion, Angel Reese, is not the only star who is questionable for the All-Star game. Caitlin Clark recently had a right groin injury and left the game against the Connecticut Sun early. Just like the LSU star’s injury updates are due, information on CC’s injury is also waiting.

While the participation of these superstars is still up in the air, a few former All-Stars will surely miss the annual event. Rhyne Howard is out with an injury. Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride will be a replacement for the Atlanta Dream guard in the game.
The Gainbridge Fieldhouse Arena will host the WNBA 2025 All-Star Game on July 19. While the live telecast of the annual gala event will be available on the ABC network, fans will be hoping to see all the ‘selected’ stars play in the game.
