The expansion team, Golden State Valkyries, made history with its postseason appearance, and HC Natalie Nakase won the Coach of the Season award for her accomplishments. At the same time, she was not the only one with some recognition in the league from the Valkyrie; Janalle Salaun and Veronica Burton also earned honors from the WNBA.

The 6-foot-2 forward was one of the surprises that the Golden State Valkyries brought to the WNBA, as the player had spent her career in the European basketball league up to that point. “Janelle had an exceptional rookie season, and this recognition is well-deserved. She’s one of the most driven and focused players I’ve coached.
