The WNBA had rivalries. Some were formed in the league, and some came from college basketball. But there are a few who could match the intensity and fan division like the rivalry between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark. Many celebrities even gave their opinions on it, highlighting its depth and reach.
So, when anyone comments on either of the athletes, the supporting fanbase and supporters try to change the narrative by force. At least that’s what a former NFL quarterback experienced after his comments on Angel Reese. But now, after facing backlash and death threats from the fan base, he has found support from Jason Whitlock.
Jason Whitlock Supports NFL Star Amid Angel Reese-Caitlin Clark Feud
It all started with Robert Griffin III highlighting the information he got from an ‘insider’. As per RG’s claims, the Chicago Sky forward hates CC. The four words sparked a major outburst from AR5’s supporters, who not only thrashed the former NFL player but, as per his social media post, were violent, too. The 35-year-old star even shared a post in support of Angel Reese asking people to avoid racism as tool to target any individual.
Addressing the issue, sports columnist Jason Whitlock posted a video on social media blasting the criticism RG III received.
“The attack on RG III is stupid and ridiculous. He is not to stir up anything terrible or bad. People just lost their minds. All the sympathy for Angel Reese is embarrassing,” he said on Instagram.
He added that it’s not a big deal if the former LSU star doesn’t like the Fever guard. She is a competitor. Giving an example of the Larry Bird and Magic Johnson rivalry in the NBA, he mentioned that it was okay at the time and should be okay now also. Interestingly, the rivalry between the two ‘W’ stars is often compared to the Bird-Johnson rivalry.
