With the recent boom in revenue for the WNBA, the viewership has increased dramatically. With it, there have been speculations and rumors surfacing every other day. And one of the most popular theories that has emerged recently is the WNBA-NBA comparison.
And it has been all over the place. Only the other day, Angel Reese threatened not to play unless she got NBA-like pay. To add further drama to the comparisons, there have been talks about whether the WNBA players are skilled enough to take on the big guns of the NBA.
Arguing on the topic, former NBA star Jason Williams had some interesting back-and-forth with Patrick Beverly in a recent interaction.
Jason Williams Makes A Surprising Claim To Counter Patrick Beverly’s WNBA-NBA Comparisons
Beverly has been an active advocate of WNBA supremacy over the NBA. Following the incredible victory of the Las Vegas Aces, Beverly faced backlashes for claiming that the Aces would beat an NBA team.

Likewise, the same topic was once again initiated in a recent episode of Patrick Beverly’s ‘Hoopin N Hollerin’ podcast. Hearing the 37-year-old’s claim of the Aces beating the NBA’s bench, Williams immediately laughed it off. Instead, he stated that his 1994 high-school basketball team could easily beat the 2025 WNBA All-Star team.
Williams said, “1994 DuPont High School in West Virginia will beat the WNBA All-Star team today.”

Meanwhile, Beverly was not done. He further claimed that A’ja Wilson would give ‘Big Billy’ a lot of problems. Williams once again clapped back, saying, “If she get 30, I am getting 60.”
Surely, it looks like the ex-NBA stars are not buying the WNBA supremacy theory. And recently, Kendrick Perkins, too, challenged Beverly’s claim.
Kendrick Perkins Disagrees With Patrick Beverly’s WNBA Assertion
Perkins recently made an appearance on the ‘Road Trippin’ podcast back in mid-October. Speaking about the Las Vegas Aces, the NBA star heaped praises on the team’s grit and determination. However, he also clarified that there was no need to unnecessarily compare the WNBA with the NBA.

“I like Pat, he’s open, he’s authentic. He said some real s—t, and he said some bulls—t; this was one of those bulls—t moments. He was f—ing tripping,” Perkins said. “I expect Pat Bev to have more respect for guys that are at the end of the bench, especially with his journey, with how he had to get into the NBA. Playing overseas, stuff like that, because… The Aces will struggle against the best men’s basketball college team. Physically, you just couldn’t keep up,” said Perkins.
Surely, it looks like nobody is buying Beverly’s theory. And while the former star is quite active, it remains to be seen whether he comes up with a counter theory.
