It is often said that talent does not go unnoticed. And for Jyalyn Sherrod, she is learning the same in the most pleasant manner possible. While she initially played for the New York Liberty, Sherrod now has a brand new team to show off her skills for. Joining the Minnesota Lynx recently, the 23-year-old had a lot to say about her journey.
Now then, at the moment, the Lynx are the hottest topic of discussion. Aiming to overturn last year’s heartbreak, the Lynx are looking quite invincible. As they have now secured the playoffs, Minnesota has put its arch-rivals, the New York Liberty, in some serious complications. Adding further to their positives this season, the Lynx decided to add the quality of Sherrod to their roster. And the point guard cannot be happier.
Jaylyn Sherrod Expresses Happiness Post Her Minnesota Lynx Inclusion
The Lynx roped in the former Liberty guard in exchange for Yvonne Anderson. Looking at the trade, it is evident that her prior relationship with Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve has a significant part to play in the decision-making process. And the 23-year-old is not shy about admitting the same. In a recent report from Zone Coverage’s Andrew Dukowitz, the former Colorado star opened her heart out.
Sherrod stated that after going undrafted, she had a couple of training camp offers. And both the proposals were utterly tempting. Having to choose between the Liberty and Lynx, the Colorado star contacted Reeve. After interacting with the Minnesota HC, she expressed her excitement and wanted to get into the squad badly.
“When I went un-drafted my two training camp offers were Minnesota and New York, I already had a conversation with Cheryl…. She came to a couple games in Boulder when I was in college… I was just excited to talk about the plan and what she saw in me. I was like, let’s get it,” said Sherrod.

Surely, the promising point guard is now in her happy place. And she has joined the Lynx at a very crucial juncture. With a 27-5 record, Minnesota became the first team to qualify for the playoffs. And with the team entering a critical juncture, the addition of the 23-year-old might turn out to be a masterclass.

What Jaylyn Sherrod Brings To Lynx’s Table?
Despite qualifying for the playoffs, there are still concerns over the Lynx’s team composition. And the most crucial factor missing from the same is Naoheesa Collier. Spraining her ankle, Collier is expected to be out of action for a couple of weeks. And that is where Sherrod’s inclusion will provide stability. Spending over two years in New York, the 23-year-old averages 1.5 points from 28 games.

Meanwhile, as that number might not be an impressive one, the former Buffaloes’ star has a 38% shooting from the floor. And to make matters more optimistic for Sherrod, she hit a career high of eight points in her final game for the Liberty. Thus, with things looking quite rosy, fans cannot wait to see what’s next.
