The Minnesota Lynx are back on track once again. Facing two consecutive defeats for the first time this season, the championship contenders were rattled a bit. Firstly, it was their arch-rivals, the New York Liberty. And next up, the Lynx had a slip-up against the Atlanta Dream. Thus, coming to the game against the Indiana Fever, the team wanted a victory badly. And surely enough, Jessica Shepard’s incredible performance helped the team come back to winning ways.
Shepard has been a consistent presence for the Lynx this season. And while the team is eyeing a championship run this time around, the 28-year-old has made sure things are not going too out of hand. Likewise, she was on point with her performance against the Indiana Fever, too. And the veteran star also made some impressive records in the process.
Jessica Shepard Leads The Way For Lynx Against Fever
Lynx ended their two-game losing streak by defeating the Fever 95-90. And right from the start of the game, it was Shepard all the way. Displaying some sublime hooping skills, Shepard finished with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. Surely, this was quite an impressive triple-double. However, dropping a triple-double in a winning cause is not the only good thing that happened with Shepard last night.

While she played for 40 minutes, the 28-year-old completed her impressive feat in record time. The Lynx star took just 21:57 to become the fastest to do so in WNBA history. Previously, this feat was held by Storm’s Skylar Diggins. She clinched a triple-double back on July 28 at 22:51.

Adding to Shepard’s heroics in the game, she also got her triple-double while shooting 90% from field goals. Surely, this is a stat line that would make her team members have a broad smile on their faces, especially during a time when the team is missing their primary star, Napheesa Collier.

Jessica Shepard Holding Lynx Together In Napheesa Collier’s Absence
Minnesota Lynx became the first to clinch a playoff spot this year. And while this is a thing of celebration, it also means the team will be facing a lot of stiff challenges ahead. Unfortunately, they might be missing their primary star, Napheesa Collier initially. Back on August 2, while playing against the Las Vegas Aces, Collier suffered a right ankle sprain. This was surely a huge blow for the team.

Soon after, details further emerged that the WNBA star will be missing two weeks of action. However, despite her return being expected around August 19, Collier is still nursing her ankle. Luckily for the team, the MRI revealed that there was no fracture. The news posed a lot of problems for the team. After all, aiming for the gold, missing out on Collier meant the team needed an alternative star. And Jessica Shepard immediately stepped in to fill the void. With her impeccable hooping display, Shepard has held the team together. And going into the playoffs, the team will surely expect some more of such dominance from the 28-year-old.
