At the final whistle, the Las Vegas Aces earned their ‘well-deserved’ championship title back, with a few players shedding tears of joy. Tearful A’ja Wilson hugged her boyfriend Bam Adebayo while other players also rejoiced with the victory. Jewell Loyd, though, had a point to prove when she joined the Aces, and she did it in style.
During the post-game interview, the 32-year-old guard spoke about her feelings of winning the championship, remembering her past and exit from the previous franchise.
Jewell Loyd Talks About Redemption
The 2025 Las Vegas Aces was not only about A’ja Wilson doing everything on the floor. Even though the former South Carolina player did have a massive impact on the outcome of the games, her bench provided much-needed support down the stretch. The Notre Dame guard was one such impactful player who was crucial in multiple games.

After winning the 2025 WNBA championship, the star couldn’t hold her emotions and said, “I definitely cried in that moment. Becky was definitely the person who believed in me from the start. I was kind of written off, but that’s how I ended up in the promised land. So, yeah.”

Even though the star won every possible accolade with the Seattle Storm in her decade-long stay, the 2024 season was shocking for her, forcing her to request a trade. She told her agent to get her out of Seattle. “At the start of everything, I told my agent, ‘Just get me out. I’ll find a way. Physically, mentally, emotionally, it cannot be worse,” Loyd said on the Warehouse Podcast.

Now, with limited opportunity and massive impact, the player showed her worth. A’ja Wilson also opened up on “magical experience” playing alongside Jewell Loyd, who quickly became the key contributor to the team.
Jewell Loyd Became Difference Maker For Las Vegas Aces
After back-to-back titles, the Aces were once again among the favorites to lift the championship in 2024. But the side fell short, losing to the eventual winners, the New York Liberty, in the semifinal series. Team’s depth was a significant concern for HC Becky Hammon, which she addressed in the offseason.
Adding a two-time champion guard to replace outgoing Kelsey Plum was a masterstroke by the former San Antonio assistant coach. Even though she struggled to fit in the system at the start, a change of role helped her to make more impact on the games and hand the side the required depth in the lineup.
Hammon used her as the first player off the bench on multiple occasions, adding range shooting and playmaking to the offensive side of the floor. The experienced player was handy at the defensive end, also, and capable of playing alongside the starters.
Earning a name as ‘Kiss of Death’ for her explosive scoring and high-energy game, Loyd seems to be happy with her new franchise and will look to win some more titles before hanging up the boots.
