After losing four games in the last five, the New York Liberty suddenly looked vulnerable. The defending champions faced adversity like no other franchise in the league. In a do-or-die situation for the late playoff push, a game against the bottom-placed Connecticut Sun was something that the New York side would see as an opportunity to get back to winning ways. Jonquel Jones made sure that the side makes most of the opportunity.
She scored 18 points and collected 11 rebounds, and with her double-double stat line created a unique record for the franchise.

Dropping down to fifth place, the visitors were in deep trouble, losing their home court advantage in the postseason and also on the brink of a possible tougher route to the finals. The 2024 WNBA Finals MVP stepped up once again and scored 18 points along with 11 rebounds in 33 minutes of play. The efficient center shot 50% from the three-point range while being 6-of-6 in the paint region.
This was the 33rd double-double performance (in regular season) for the Liberty side, and the side won all those games.

Since joining the New York Liberty team, the 29-year-old forward has been a consistent performer. She averaged around 14 points and eight rebounds per game, and her versatility plays a vital role in HC Sandy Brondello’s gameplay.
The star is the primary rim protector for the team, averaging around 1.5 blocks per game. Strong rebounding ability is another underrated quality of hers, where the player provides multiple second-chance opportunities to the side.
