After the expansion draft, one of the biggest hurdles for the league and its franchises is the free agency signings. The New York Liberty got assurance from Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu, while the core is still incomplete without Jonquel Jones.
With two key players already planning to stay with the franchise, the 6-foot-6 star also gave positive news for fans as the Liberty team looks to compete for the championship.

Jonquel Jones Staying With New York Liberty
Ahead of the 2026 season, GM Jonathan Klob showed confidence in his front office and players to stick together following the departure of Sandy Brondello. And the franchise’s ‘Big 3’ proved him right.

During the 2025 WNBA season, the Bahamian-Bosnian star averaged 13.6 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. maintained a steady presence in the Liberty’s lineup, starting all 31 games she played in. She continued to be a versatile threat, shooting 49.0% from the field and recorded a season-high 36 minutes in a single game.

The Liberty team had the right for the Atlanta Dream’s 2021 WNBA draft pick and chose to add the 6’3” big. Interestingly, the side also has another forward, 6’11” Han Xu, following her time in Brooklyn between 2019 and 2023.
With Jones, Raquel Carrera, Breanna Stewart and Han Xu, the NY side is stacked up in the forward line.
