On a day when the Los Angeles Sparks’ head coach, Lynne Roberts, spoke about the mindset during the critical playoff push, her side delivered against the Dallas Wings. A clinical 91-77 win was a morale booster for the side, and in that period, starting guard Julie Allemand was on the spot for the side.
The Belgian guard had her career-best game, leaving no space for errors on the floor. With a career-high score and steals, she set a unique record in the league.
Julie Allemand Sets WNBA Record During Los Angeles Sparks Win Over Wings
The three-time WNBA Champions’ playoff qualification was a much-discussed topic in the league. The team first looked certain to reach the top eight in the league standings, and then fell behind again with some shocking losses, especially against their qualification competitors.

With that, players like Dearica Hamby and Azura Stevens dropped a truth bomb on the Sparks’ qualification chances, but vowed to fight till the end. The first opponent was the struggling Dallas Wings, whom they swept aside with a 91-77 win at home.
Julie Allemand was the surprise top scorer in the game. She scored 21 points and had five steals for the Los Angeles Sparks. Her 100% shooting efficiency in the game made her the first player in the WNBA with 20+ points and 5+ steals in a regular-season game. Impressively, she kept her performance spotless with zero turnovers in the game while providing four assists.
“I’m just trying to read the game every time. I don’t care about shooting two times, eight times; most of the time, I’m just trying to read the game. And today I (had) more chances than usual. I took it and it went in,” Allemand said.

There have been 184 regular season games in WNBA history where a player recorded 20+ PTS and 5+ STLS. Allemand is the FIRST to do it while shooting 100% from the floor (8-for-8).

Although she averaged below five points in the season, her output in the game against Wings was vital, providing the head coach with another offensive option on the floor.
Los Angeles Sparks With Tough Task Ahead
With a win over the Dallas Wings, the Sparks survived elimination for one more day, but that’s not all. Their playoff qualification fate relies on the result of the Seattle Storm vs. the Golden State Valkyries. Even if the Storm loses that game, the Sparks have to win their remaining games to qualify for the postseason.
They have a 3-1 head-to-head record against the Storm in the regular season, allowing them to take a higher rank if the teams tie on the games won, but the Los Angeles Sparks will face in-form teams like the Phoenix Mercury and the Las Vegas Aces next, which makes their job tougher than ever.
