The WNBA offseason might be lengthier with limited basketball action on the floor in women’s sport. While March Madness brings all the excitement, players are also staying in touch with fans through social media and public appearances. Diana Taurasi, though praised the new CBA deal, is not much connected with the WNBA action and would rather spend time with her family.
Yet, retired from the game, she remains connected to the sport, as she stays in touch with her college and high school teams. And recently judged a Dunk contest along with a few active WNBA stars, including Kahleah Copper and Natisha Hiedeman.

While the NCAA provides a platform for college players to showcase their basketball talent, at the high school level, eye-catching events are mostly tournaments or contests. While players have nearly committed to colleges by now, the McDonald’s All-American Slam Dunk Contest was their latest chance to grab the attention of top programs.
Interestingly, the 2026 edition had many high-profile judges who made their mark at the pro level. The panel included Kahleah Coper, Diana Taurasi, Courtney Williams and Natisha Hiedeman at Millennium High School in Goodyear, Arizona, on March 30.

With many cheering for the famous and established superstars, the event was for the upcoming hooper. The star of the show was Lady Vols basketball signee, Oliviyah Edwards. The 6-foot-3 forward threw down a one-handed slam for her first attempt in front of a panel of judges.

Diana Taurasi Surprises Gatorade National Player Olivia Vukosa
The 18-year-old Vukosa recently won the Gatorade National Girls Basketball Player of the Year and is one of the most sought-after forwards in the country at the moment. While coach Geno Auriemma already landed the future superstar, the three-time champion also met the young player.
“I didn’t even see the trophy, I didn’t see anyone. I saw her through the door and I started crying. It’s definitely a surreal experience and something I’m definitely going to cherish forever… She’s someone I’ve looked up to for a long, long time and it just doesn’t feel real. It feels like a dream,” Vukosa told CBS Sports.
