With the WNBA in shambles, a host of new leagues are coming up thick and fast. While the new 3-on-3 format of Unrivaled was already a hit, Project B too, has also been one of the biggest hits in recent times. As the WNBA needs to address Project B’s player poaching, recent trends are quite concerning.
Soon after the announcement of the Saudi-based league, WNBPA president, Nneka Ogwumike, had signed with the multi-million dollar league. And if that was not concerning enough, Kamilla Cardoso has recently announced her partnership with the league.

Kamilla Cardoso Excited For Her New Stint With Project B
Cardoso had quite a decent season playing for the Chicago Sky this year. Unfortunately, with the CBA negotiations coming to a stalemate, the uncertainties over how the next season would pan out are getting worse.
And add to that, the growing threats of a possible lockdown from the players. Now, under such circumstances, the Chicago Sky star announced her latest partnership with Project B.
“Hi everyone, Kamilla Cardoso here,” Cardoso said. “I’m really excited to finally announce that I’ll be joining Project B. Being able to travel, getting to know new places, this is such a blessing that I don’t take for granted. I’m also super proud of being able to represent Brazil, and I can’t wait to get started. Let’s get it!” she further added.

Trending WNBA News
Surely, such news will make the WNBA front office much more tense. She is not the first player to have joined the Saudi-backed project. And as more and more players are shifting towards the Saudi-backed league, Ogwumike revealed the real reason behind the same.
Why Did Kamilla Cardoso And Others Switch To Project B?
Back in the WNBA, the players are unhappy with their salaries and with how little of the revenue the league allots to them. And while they have been asking for a better revenue-sharing contract, the WNBA front office has turned a deaf ear.

On the contrary, Project B is offering its players millions of dollars as salaries. On top of that, they would also get an equity stake in the league.
When asked about the reason for her switch, Ogwumike said, “It’s not something that’s usually offered to us, and by us, I mean women athletes. So, for there to be an entry level of equity across the board was eye-catching. It’s something that I stand for, obviously.”
Nneka Ogwumike has signed a contract with Project B, the latest pro women's basketball league that is expected to begin in Europe and Asia next winter. Ogwumike will get an undisclosed salary and equity stake in the league. https://t.co/gxdniC7MQR
