Reason For Kara Braxton’s Death
On February 21, the news of the death of a former WNBA star came out without any confirmation on the reason for death or the time of death. Only the place of death, Georgia, was mentioned in early reports.
After confirmation of the details, the league also shared the news on its social media account and wrote, “It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of 2x WNBA Champion Kara Braxton. A 10-season veteran, Kara played with the Detroit Shock, Tulsa Shock, Phoenix Mercury, and New York Liberty. Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and former teammates at this time.”

As for the reason of death, the report mentioned that a single car accident took her life. Media outlet USA Today reported a statement from the Cobb County Police confirming that Braxton died in a single-car crash outside of Atlanta around 5:13 p.m. Saturday.
A preliminary report mentions that the 2007 All-Star was driving a blue 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E northbound on I-285. Upon approaching Cobb Parkway when she “failed to maintain her lane” and “collided with the concrete median wall,” riding against it until the car came to a rest on the left shoulder.
Medic took her to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia, where doctors confirmed her death. The investigation is still going on, as per the report.

Kara Braxton played for the Detroit Shock and won two championships. The 2007 All-Star was a key member of Detroit’s early dominance in the league. The Pistons honored the former star with a moment of silence during their recent game.
