The Golden State Valkyries are pushing hard for a playoff spot. With a lot going on inside the team, the Valkyries are in a spot of bother. Following the injury to their star player, Kayla Thornton, the team suffered a major blow. However, with some spirited performances coming in, the team has somewhat managed to get back to winning ways. And Veronica Burton and Kate Martin were two names who made sure that Valkyries did not slip.
Facing off against the Washington Mystics, it was an uphill battle for the Valkyries. Apart from Thornton, they also missed the likes of Monique Billings and Cecilia Zandalasini. But just when the chips were down, it was Burton and Martin who ensured that the Valkyries went through.
Kate Martin And Veronica Burton Lead The Way For Golden State Valkyries
The Golden State Valkyries have been going through quite a lean patch at the moment. Aiming for the championship at the beginning of the season, things fell off swiftly for the team. However, as the team showed impeccable resilience, they are closing in on the eighth play-off spot. Having 13 wins and 13 losses, the Valkyries will be looking to extend their winning run further.
And it was exactly for this reason that the win against the Mystics was pivotal. Kate Martin and Veronica Burton made merry as the game became tight in the second half. Martin dropped 14 points, five rebounds, and had three successful three-point attempts.
