Team USA Basketball is getting ready for the FIBA World Cup qualifiers with a star-studded lineup, with a mix of rookies and Olympic champions representing the national side. Top rookies like Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers, and Angel Reese are making their senior debut while the vets like Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum, and Kahleah Copper are taking more of a guiding role.
So to have good chemistry between them, it’s important to strike a bond with each other, and one senior player who excels at the duty is Plum. It looks like she took the Fever guard under her wings, constantly staying around the 2024 rookie.
Fans even loved a hilarious moment between Plum and Clark as they entered the facilities. But that’s not the only fun part the Sparks’ guard had with her rookie.

Kelsey Plum Pokes Fun At Caitlin Clark’s Play
During a practice drill, CC received a pass, and the former Aces guard called for the pass. But instead of passing the ball to her, Clark made a basket, showing her shooting range.
Although it was an impressive bucket, Plum was not happy about it, and as Clark took off to shoot the ball, the 31-year-old started shouting, “Selfish, selfish. That’s a selfish play.”
“That’s selfish.”

The duo went at each other for a while on the comment as CC smiled at her and said, “You yell at me for not passing you the ball and then you run all excited to shoot a layup and you cant even catch my pass.”
When Plum mentioned that she caught her pass, CC again said, “Barely… the ref would have hit one of these 6-7,” making the juggling gesture. Both players laughed about the situation, hinting at a fun conversation rather than a ‘fight’. Incidentally, Plum even mocked Aliyah Boston, imitating her post-up move, throwing elbows, which was also fun to watch.
While the two-time champion is all fun on the court and in practice sessions, she is dead serious about her work and also the CBA talks. She gave an example of the same in a recent interview.
Kelsey Plum Keeps USA Duty And WNBA Duties Separate
As Team USA guard sat for the press conference, one reporter asked her a question about CBA negotiations. The former top pick quickly corrected the reporter by requesting that the press ask questions about Team USA or the World Cup competition.
Sadly, the next reporter also asked a question about her letter to the WNBPA management over the CBA dealings. The California girl once again refused to answer and stayed firm on her stand to answer only Team USA or competition-related questions, keeping both topics separate at the moment.

Fans also backed Plum in the situation and criticized the reporter for an insensitive question. They would love to see Kelsey Plum laser-focused on the national duty as she showed at the press conference.
