There have been many reasons to celebrate Caitlin Clark’s ascend to the WNBA scene and a few to point her out. The Indiana Fever star has been significantly struggling with her shooting. Along with the Fever rookie, stars like Kelsey Plum have also been seeing a shooting slump.
Recently, Plum addressed the nosedive trend in league-wide shooting and had one real reason to name. However, Clark has also been nursing her groin injury, and that might be just another reason for her struggles.
Kelsey Plum Blames Tiredness For Caitlin Clark’s Shooting Slump
Caitlin Clark has been one of the most phenomenal shooters in the league. She has won praise for her incredible shooting accuracy and her signature logo threes. However, things haven’t been going too smoothly for her lately. Clark has hit just 1-of-23 from long range in her last three games.

But she is not alone in this struggle. Several other players are feeling the effects, too. New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu has been on a bit of a rough patch as well, shooting 3-of-19 over her last three outings. Additionally, Kelsey Plum from the Los Angeles Sparks shared some thoughts on social media about why so many players are dealing with these slumps.
“Cause we’re tired,” Plum commented on an Instagram post pointing out the recent shooting slump.

With her address, fatigue seems to be taking a toll, and it’s something that’s come up in conversations recently. Other players like Natasha Cloud and Satou Sabally have also called for the WNBA to consider extending the season to give athletes more time to rest and recover.
Wings rookie Paige Bueckers Acknowledged The Caitlin Clark Effect
While an already struggling Caitlin Clark sat on the sidelines for the Fever-Wings game, her fans still showed up. During the exciting June 27 game, rookie Paige Bueckers put on a show against Indiana and scored 27 points on 9 of 18 shooting.
Bueckers also added six rebounds with no turnovers. Fans loved seeing her talent on display, but it was a bit of a letdown that they didn’t get to see her go against the Fever star. Even without Clark, Fever fans came out in droves, filling the arena with over 20,000 attendees. However, before the game, Bueckers was full of praise for Clark while recognizing the impact she’s had on the game.
“And I think it has just brought so many more eyes to the game. And like I’ve said before, people come in and tune in for Caitlin, and end up fans of so many other athletes. So to be able to play on this platform, to get more eyes on the game, to get more respect for the game. Because I think when you watch, we perform. And the return on investment is great. So it’s just a great opportunity for all of us,” Bueckers added (Via Twitter).
It’s heartwarming to hear Bueckers give a nod to Clark. Let’s hope these two amazing talents can finally take the court against each other. The next best chance would be the Wings and Fever matchup on July 13.
