The 2025 Offseason was wild. The Indiana Fever made a host of changes, adding championship-experienced players to its young roster. But it was not the only team with major signings; the Los Angeles Sparks added two-time champion Kelsey Plum to its lineup.
The veteran’s move was shocking. Especially with her impact on the Las Vegas Aces. In a recent episode of ‘Bird’s Eye’, she narrated the reasons behind switching teams.
Kelsey Plum Highlights Shocking Reasons Behind Leaving Aces
Early in January, the Las Vegas Aces acquired the star guard, showing trust in her. But she demanded trade, and the franchise looked for a replacement in return. The most jaw-dropping transaction happened when a three-team trade sent Plum to the Sparks and got Lloyd in return from the Storm.
Talking about the trade and request, the 30-year-old star mentioned the situation and how it frustrated her.
“You have the basketball element. It’s not about shots or points. It’s just more of a feeling… Yeah, I can set cross screens and back screens for A’ja all day, no problem. But then you feel, ‘Am I becoming the fourth option?’ We’re not winning, so that also feels frustrating. There are egos involved. Again, it’s not just me; that’s what happens when you play on a team with a ton of people that are budding stars,” Plum told Sue Bird on a Podcast (Via YT/SueBird).
The outspoken Kelsey Plum mentioned that she was looking for a fresh start with feeling that she wouldn’t grow more at the Aces. She took a chance leading a side instead of playing under A’ja Wilson.
